Competition Overview
The Greek Super League, also known as the Super League 1, is the top professional football league in Greece. It was established in 1927, making it one of the oldest leagues in Europe. The league consists of 14 teams, who compete in a round-robin format, playing each other twice throughout the season. The most successful team in the history of the Greek Super League is Olympiacos, with a record 45 league titles. Another notable team is Panathinaikos, who have won the league 20 times. An interesting fact is that the league was suspended during World War II from 1941 to 1945.
