The Japanese J1 League, also known as the Meiji Yasuda J1 League, is the top professional soccer league in Japan. It was established in 1993 and is currently composed of 18 teams. The league has a rich history, with its roots dating back to the Japan Soccer League, which was founded in 1965. Some of the most successful teams in the J1 League include Kashima Antlers, Urawa Red Diamonds, and Yokohama F. Marinos. Interestingly, the league has a unique format where the bottom three teams are relegated to the J2 League at the end of each season.
