The Romanian Liga III, also known as the Liga III Seria, is the fourth tier of the Romanian football league system. It was established in 1936 and is organized by the Romanian Football Federation. The league consists of 6 regional divisions, each with 16 teams, making a total of 96 teams competing for promotion to the Liga II. Some of the most successful teams in the history of the Liga III include FC Argeș Pitești, FC Bihor Oradea, and FC Petrolul Ploiești. Interestingly, the Liga III has seen several clubs rise from the lower divisions to achieve success in higher tiers of Romanian football.
