Founded in 1905, Independiente has a rich history and is one of the most successful clubs in Argentine soccer. They have won the Copa Libertadores a record seven times, the most by any club in the history of the competition. Independiente has also won the FIFA Club World Cup twice, in 1973 and 1984.
