Cartagines Deportiva SA, commonly known as Cartagines, is a professional soccer club based in Cartago, Costa Rica. Founded in 1906, it is one of the oldest and most traditional clubs in the country. The team plays its home matches at the Estadio Jose Rafael "Fello" Meza Ivancovich, which has a capacity of around 13,500 spectators. Cartagines has a rich history and has enjoyed success in the past. The club has won the Costa Rican Primera Division title on four occasions, with their most recent triumph coming in the 1940s. They have also been runners-up in the league on multiple occasions. The club's nickname is "Los Brumosos," which translates to "The Misty Ones." This nickname is derived from the foggy weather conditions that often envelop the city of Cartago. An interesting fact about Cartagines is that they were the first Costa Rican team to participate in the CONCACAF Champions League, the premier club competition in North and Central America. This demonstrates the club's historical significance and ambition to compete at the highest level.
