Cerro Largo Football Club, based in Melo, Uruguay, is a relatively young club with a rich history. Founded in 2002, the club quickly rose through the ranks of Uruguayan football, gaining promotion to the top division, Primera División, in 2019. Despite being a newcomer to the top flight, Cerro Largo made an impressive debut, finishing in a respectable position in the league table. The club's home venue is the Estadio Arquitecto Antonio Eleuterio Ubilla, which has a capacity of around 7,000 spectators. Cerro Largo is affectionately known as "El Arachán," a nickname derived from the indigenous Guarani language, which refers to a mythical creature resembling a jaguar. One interesting fact about Cerro Largo is that they have a strong focus on youth development. The club has a renowned youth academy that has produced several talented players who have gone on to play for top clubs in Uruguay and abroad. This emphasis on nurturing young talent has been a key factor in the club's success.
