Deportivo Capiatá, a Paraguayan soccer club, was founded in 2008 and is based in the city of Capiatá. The club has quickly risen through the ranks of Paraguayan football, starting in the lower divisions and eventually earning promotion to the top-flight Primera División in 2013. One of the major accomplishments of Deportivo Capiatá came in 2014 when they reached the final of the Copa Paraguay, the country's domestic cup competition. Although they were runners-up in that tournament, their achievement was remarkable considering their relatively short history. The club's home venue is the Estadio Erico Galeano Segovia, which has a capacity of around 15,000 spectators. Deportivo Capiatá is affectionately known as "Los Escoberos," which translates to "The Broom Makers." This nickname is derived from the fact that Capiatá is historically known for its broom-making industry. Despite being a relatively young club, Deportivo Capiatá has made a name for itself in Paraguayan football and continues to strive for success in the Primera División.
