FC Utrecht is a professional soccer club based in Utrecht, Netherlands. Founded in 1970, the club has a relatively short but eventful history. They play their home matches at the Stadion Galgenwaard, which has a seating capacity of around 24,000 spectators. The club's nickname is "Domstedelingen," which refers to the people of Utrecht. Although FC Utrecht has not won the Eredivisie title, they have had several notable accomplishments. They have reached the KNVB Cup final on multiple occasions, winning the tournament in 1985, 2003, and 2004. These victories allowed them to participate in the UEFA Cup and later the UEFA Europa League. FC Utrecht has established itself as a consistent presence in Dutch football, often finishing in the top half of the Eredivisie table. They have also produced talented players who have gone on to represent the Dutch national team.
