Plaza Colonia is a Uruguayan soccer club based in Colonia del Sacramento. Founded in 1917, the club has a rich history in Uruguayan football. Plaza Colonia has primarily competed in the lower divisions of Uruguayan football, but in recent years, they have experienced a rise in success. In 2016, they achieved promotion to the top-flight league, the Primera División, for the first time in their history. This was a remarkable accomplishment for a club of their size and resources. Plaza Colonia's home venue is the Estadio Profesor Alberto Suppici, named after a former Uruguayan footballer and coach. The club is affectionately known as "El Pata Blanca" (The White Paw) due to their white home kit.
