Pumas U.N.A.M., also known as Club Universidad Nacional, is a Mexican soccer club based in Mexico City. Founded in 1954, the club has a rich history and is one of the most successful teams in Mexican football. Pumas U.N.A.M. plays its home matches at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario, which has a seating capacity of over 60,000 spectators. The club's nickname is "Los Pumas," which translates to "The Pumas" in English. This nickname was chosen due to the team's association with the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), whose mascot is a puma. Pumas U.N.A.M. has won numerous domestic titles, including seven Liga MX championships and three Copa MX titles. The club has also had success in international competitions, reaching the final of the Copa Libertadores in 2001.
