The Seattle Sounders Football Club, founded in 2007, is a professional soccer team based in Seattle, Washington. The club competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) and plays its home matches at CenturyLink Field, which has a seating capacity of over 37,000. The Sounders have established themselves as one of the most successful teams in MLS history. They have won the MLS Cup on two occasions, in 2016 and 2019, and have also claimed the Supporters' Shield, awarded to the team with the best regular-season record, four times. The club's nickname, the Sounders, pays homage to the region's maritime heritage and the Puget Sound.
