Stoke City Football Club, based in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, has a rich history dating back to its formation in 1863. The club's home venue is the bet365 Stadium, formerly known as the Britannia Stadium. Stoke City is affectionately known as "The Potters," a nickname derived from the city's historical association with the pottery industry. Over the years, Stoke City has achieved notable accomplishments. They have won the Football League Trophy twice, in 1992 and 2000, and were runners-up in the League Cup in 1964 and 1972. In the 1972 League Cup final, Stoke City famously faced Chelsea in a replay, which remains the only League Cup final replay to date. Stoke City has also had successful spells in the top flight of English football, including a period from 2008 to 2018, during which they established themselves as a Premier League club.
